2024 Sport Pembrokeshire Awards - Part 3

Junior Disability Sport Award

The category of Junior Disability Sport Award was sponsored by the Pembrokeshire County Council Inclusion Service and the finalists were Finnley Walters, Jac Johnson and Lewis Crawford:

Jack Johnson (Winner):

Aged 13 and competing for Pembrokeshire Special Needs Gymnastics Club, Jac earned two golds and overall champion at Gymspire Championships and claimed three golds at Poole Disability Open on parallel bars, vault and floor. He has represented his school, Gelliswick, with medal-winning performances and won gold at the Inclusive Tumbling Competition in Cardiff. Jac continues to inspire his peers and coaches with each new achievement.

Finnley Walters (Runner-Up):

Finnley Walters, age 10, embodies resilience and determination, channelling his energy into boxing at Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Boxing Club. With cerebral palsy affecting all four limbs, Finnley has grown into a role model, even assisting as a coach for people of all ages. His achievements extend beyond boxing, as he also launched a local printing business, Role Model Gifts, serving area schools and clubs. Finnley’s infectious spirit inspires everyone around him, and his boxing has gone from strength to strength.

Lewis Crawford (Runner-Up):

Lewis Crawford’s commitment to Boccia is outstanding, showing impressive progress and dedication. Representing Team Wales in Ireland, he has proven his potential as a high-calibre athlete. Guided by Angela Miles and advancing along the Disability Sport Wales (DSW) development pathway, Lewis’s skills have flourished in the past year. Representing Wales in Scotland this November Lewis played against Stephen McGuire gold medallist from the Paris Olympics; what an experience for a 13 year old boy.
